Grouping elements
In the LesLinq authoring tool, you can group different elements together. This allows you to create templates, for example, or quickly apply the same properties to all elements within a group.
To group elements, select them while holding the Shift key. Then go to the property panel and click GROUP SELECTED ITEMS, or use the keyboard shortcuts:
Ctrl + G → Group selected elements
Ctrl + Shift + G → Ungroup selected elements
It's important to know that groups behave differently from individual elements. More details below.
The Group Frame
- Every group has a group frame around it. This defines the boundary of all elements within the group.
- You can resize the group frame with your mouse to fit the elements inside. Note: resizing the frame with your mouse does not scale the elements within the group.
- The group frame affects positioning and animations.
Scaling a Group
To scale a group along with all its elements:
- Go to the Property panel
- Navigate to the Transform section
- Adjust the scale there

Using Groups for Animations
Applying Multiple Animations
A single element can only have one animation at a time (e.g. fade, slide, or zoom). By grouping elements, you can attach multiple animations to them. Here's how:
- Apply the first animation to the element (e.g. Zoom)
- Group the element
- Apply a second animation to the group (e.g. Fade)
Optional:
- Create a new group from the previous group
- Add a third animation (e.g. Path animation)
Animation Behavior with Group Frames
When using animations such as:
- Slide in from top
- Slide out to the left
the group frame is used as the reference frame. The animation starts or ends outside the group frame, not outside the canvas.
Aligning Animations with the Canvas
If you want animations to start or end outside the canvas, adjust the group frame so that it matches the size of the canvas.
You can do this by:
- Dragging the group frame to resize it manually with your mouse
- Or by using Fit to Page in the quick toolbar

⚠️ Note: You must exit the group before making these adjustments.
Movement Behavior Within Groups
The starting position of animations (such as slide in) applied to elements inside a group is relative to the group frame, not the canvas. This can affect how the animation appears, for example if the group frame has a specific size or an offset position.
Special Features of LesLinq Groups
- Templates:
Created using the group functionality. - Actions (Show/Hide):
You can attach actions to a group instead of to individual elements. This is useful when you want to apply an action to multiple elements at once. - Positioning (Anchor Point):
Using groups gives you better control over the position and registration point — particularly useful with path animations.
Example:
Suppose you want a specific part of an object (e.g. the top of a cable car) to follow a path:
Create a group
- Adjust the group frame if needed
- Set the registration point to the desired position via the Property panel — scroll down to find the Transform origin function, which lets you set the anchor point
- Attach the group to the path animationStel dat je wilt dat een specifiek deel van een object (bijv. de bovenkant van een kabelbaan) een pad volgt. Dit werkt als volgt:
